God's Grace

We marvel at the immensity of forgiveness offered to us in the gospel of Jesus Christ; we revel in the recompense freely paid on our behalf through the blood of our Saviour—but do we know just how vast and rich the gift of grace truly is? 
Have we even begun to wade into the depths of the endless sea of the lovingkindness of our heavenly Father? 
In this powerful  series, listeners are invited to see that God’s
gift of salvation includes far more than the mere forgiveness of sins—as utterly essential as this truth is.
We are invited to see that along with the forgiveness offered to us in Christ comes the transformation and renewal of our heart, mind, and body as we grow in the knowledge of God. Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection were not only meant to save God’s children from the penalty of sin but ultimately from the very presence of sin altogether.

Grace and Peace to you

Did you know that Paul opened each one of his letters with the very same greeting? “Grace and peace to you.”

Each one of Paul’s letters opens with these words……. Thirteen times!

Whether Paul was writing to the people of a church, or his “true son in the faith,” like Titus, even when he was writing to discuss the difference between slavery and brotherhood, his blessing was always “grace and peace.”

Some people might think these words are a formality, but these words—even if they were formalities—were breathed out by the Holy Spirit.

Why would Paul greet everyone in this manner?

Humility Brings A Greater Grace

If God gives grace to the humble, how can I eagerly pursue his best for me without falling into mere self-interest?

Both Peter and James quoted the Old Testament, Proverbs 3:34
God opposes those who are proud. But he gives grace to those who are humble.

They latched on to this teaching from Proverbs 3:34.It must be important. First, it tells us that God gives grace. Isn’t that what God is supposed to do?
But this verse also tells us that God gives grace to certain kinds of people - humble people. Finally, it also tells us that God can withhold grace from another kind of people - the proud.
